For The Love of Horror

Let Horror Be FUN Again. Re: Let Me Enjoy My Indie Horror Movies

I have been thinking about how horror movies have gotten so much polish over the years. Huge budgets with beautiful locations. Logan's post really got me thinking about how horror has really changed, and so have audience expectations. Horror used to be fun. You used to be able to laugh at how bad (GOOD) the movie was, and still enjoy it. Two of my favorite movies are Demons from (1985) Not indie I know, but it was incredibly campy, and the effects are incredible. The other being Starry Eyes from (2014). Demons is about demons possessing people in a movie theater, and goopy fun ensues. Starry Eyes is about a starving actress willing to do, and become anything for the role she wants. They used their small cast and budget to have fun and tell a great story. They stuck with me, because they were fun movies. We need to remember that horror was the underdog genre. (Still is). That's what made me fall in love with it in the first place at least. I love all types of horror, including Hell House LLC. :) Regardless of the movie, have fun! Stay scary. Stay you. Comments Welcome
